DaVinci Software Has a Website for Your Team

Now is the time of year to start thinking about the 2012 baseball season.  Along with that, comes a decision to make on your team’s information system (website).  What, you ask is an information system?  It is how you get important and timely information on your baseball team out to your players and fans.  DaVinci Software is available to help you and it’s all free!

DaVinci Software launched the new Minnesota Baseball Association website on February 13th, 2011. This new website is powered by DaVinci’s Score Monster framework and allows MBA leagues and teams to customize their own websites under the MBA name and branding.  Site features initially included: league standings, game scoring, box scores, player and team statistics, league and team news articles and a spot to put a picture and directions to your diamond.

The site also included access to MBA forms and documents, State Board meeting minutes and archives, and a listing of all teams in alphabetical and league format with an additional listing by region or section.

A new support email was setup (support@mnbaseball.org) for the MBA website to help users with issues and questions. The majority of emails that came in were requests to get administrative permission to administer their team’s MBA website. Davinci worked tirelessly to make sure all team administration requests were turned around within 48 hours.

In addition, there were a many requests that also came in for the ability to create a link to their team’s current non-MBA website.  To facilitate this, the Score Monster Development team released functionality to allow teams to add custom content to MBA team and league home pages. This new feature was made available on February 20th, only a week after the initial launch.  DaVinci was able to listen to user feedback and provide a solution!

The MBA users were great at providing feedback and the Score Monster Development Team was extremely grateful, fixing all high priority issues/bugs that were reported before May. While busy fixing issues for users the Score Monster Development Team also worked on new features for the MBA website. Here is a list of phase 2 features:  Bill’s Blog, Facebook and Twitter accounts and links on footer, scoreboard page, rotating home page scoreboard and league leaders.

During the season there were a handful of leagues and teams that fully entered their games and scores which provided their fans updated standings and stats. As website hosting subscriptions run dry on teams’ old non-MBA websites, DaVinci has been hearing from more teams migrating to their free MBA team website. This should continue as teams’ board of directors look to reduce costs.

As the 2011 state tournament approached, the Score Monster Development Team was busy once again working on the new state tourney pages. DaVinci was proud to be able to provide the follow features for the State Tournament by August:  two new tabs (“Class A State Tourney” and “Class B|C State Tourney”), tournament scoreboards for each class, tournament leaders for each class, tournament game box scores, links to State Tournament archives, links to LudMedia’s live game scores and brackets, and a link to the Glencoe/Brownton State Tournament website page.

Steve Loos, founder and owner of DaVinci Software, is extremely proud to have the MBA as a client and looks forward to 2012. Reviewing the Google Analytics:

- 2010 (May 1st – Sept. 30) – 431,851 page views
- 2011 (May 1st – Sept. 30) – 686,886 page views

The new DaVinci MBA Website has increased traffic compared to the old 2010 website by 62%!!!

Even with the significant increase in traffic, there are many MBA teams still not fully utilizing what is simply free to them. As more teams begin to weigh their options DaVinci sees a migration to the free MBA team website.  The more teams and leagues that go with their free MBA websites, the more information that will become available to all amateur baseball enthusiasts.

“Now that we have an established website for the MBA we look forward to working hard in 2012 training MBA users to fully use the Score Monster product to make their MBA team website the best it can be,” stated Loos. Currently, DaVinci is working with General Sports to provide training sessions at the 2012 Baseball Expo. Loos and his team of experts will be at the 2012 Baseball Expo providing free training sessions for any team or league interested in establishing their own website.  Click here for the details of the 2012 Expo.
