Have you ever heard of a guy by the name of Joe Mauer? Well, he and several of his teammates including Michael Cuddyer, JJ Hardy and Justin Morneau (Canadian team) all played with their 18U teams. This team is typically made up of the best 17 and 18 year old players in the nation. They are coming to Minnesota to play nine exhibition games before they go to Thunder Bay, Canada from July 23 to August 1, 2010 for the 2010 IBAF "AAA" World Junior Championships.
The Class A All-Stars will be hosting the 18U team on Tuesday, July 13 at Veterans Field in Minnetonka. Game time is 7:00 P.M. This is a major fund raiser for the A teams and will help sponsor their State Tournament which takes place over two weeks in mid-August at Veterans Field and Dunning Field. This All-Star team is made up of six players from each of the four Class A leagues (Riverview, Park National, Skyline and St. Paul Municipal).
Earlier in the year, the Park National and Riverview created an All-Star team to play the St. Paul Saints (tied 6-6). On August 10th the Park National and Riverview leagues will team up and take on an All-Star team from the Skyline and St. Paul Municipal leagues. No player is allowed to play on more than one of these All-Star teams over the whole year. All three All-Star games will help fund the A State Baseball Tournament.
