Minnesota Baseball Association, Inc. MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 2003 ULTIMATE SPORTS, WAITE PARK Meeting called to order by President Odman at 3:00 PM. Roll call showed all directors were present. Motion Brennan, seconded Forsman, carried to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as mailed. Also in attendance: John Hoffer, Mac Zachow, Mike Kieke, Paul Ahearn, Derek Fults, Tony Smith, Denis Ahearn, Casey West, and Jeff West. Motion Fiemeyer, seconded Wegscheid, carried to deny the request of John Hoofer Eden Prairie to play for Hopkins who is a Class "A" Team in the Riverview League. Voting against the motion: Roufs and Odman. Anthony Smith, a team representative from Cleveland, came before the board with concerns on who was in charge of signing and releasing players for their team. He stated the 13-60 League they play in recognized the previous manager to do this, however, team members namely Anthony Smith, Eric Kauffmann, Eric Hermanson, Jeff West, Casey West, Paul Ahearn, Denis Ahearn, Joseph Altermatt, Derek Fults, Steven Stauff, and Mathew Stauff would like this changed and presented to the board a written certification that they selected Anthony Smith as their team representative giving him sole authority to sign and release players for the Cleveland Amateur Baseball Team. They would like to continue playing in the 13-60 League and asked the board for any help, they could provide in having this change made with the league. A motion by Roufs, seconded Richter, carried that the board would approve Anthony Smith as the Cleveland representative providing the 13-60 League that Cleveland plays in also approves this change. Voting against the motion: Fischer. Motion Wegscheid, seconded Fischer, carried to accept the resignation of Chris Collins as Region 6 Commissioner. The board would like to thank Chris for his many years of dedicated service to the MBA. The board would like to welcome Don Dvorak as the new Region 6 Commissioner. Motion Fiemeyer, seconded Wegscheid, carried to approve the request from the Resorters League to have a 15-mile Player Radius. Motion Roufs, seconded Brennan, carried to approve the request of the Land O'Ducks Leagues to have a 35 mile player radius, with the exception of the Alexandria Clippers they will stay with the states 25 mile radius. Motion Wegscheid, seconded Forsman, carried to approve the following teams to play Non MBA Teams. Wolf Lake: Fargo, ND Tournament Fairmont: Brookings, SD; Bancroft, IA Hampton: Prescott, Wl Lake City: Eau Claire, Plum City, Durand, Bangor Tournament Perham: Wyndmere, ND Chicago Lakes: Osceola, New Richland, Wl Dassel Cokato: Play Dassel 35 and over team Motion Roufs, seconded Fisher, carried to approve the following teams to play Randolf who is playing an independent schedule this year and will not advance to post season. Hampton, Rochester Roadrunners, Pine Island, Cannon Falls, Bay City, Cannon Falls Tournament. If there are any other teams that will be playing Randolph, you must have MBA permission. Motion Odman, seconded Richter, carried to approve Travis Johnson to play for the Mankato Moondogs, return to Dassel-Cokato for Post Season Play providing he meets his four game eligibility. Motion Richter, seconded Forsman, carried to approve tournament sanctions for: Hamburg, June 13-15/03; Perham, June 13-15/03; Kingston, June 7/03; Redwing, June 12-15/03. League Secretaries: Reminder, League Rosters must be received by State Secreta ry on or before July 7, 2003. Penalty for not complying - league will be fined $250.00. Also, if rosters are not received by July 7, 2003, those teams will be ineligible and barred from post season play. Also, contracts and releases must be sent to State Secretary within two weeks of their signing date. Next meeting of the MBA will be May 24, 2004 at Ultimate Sports, Waite Park at 1:00 PM.
