MINNESOTA BASEBALL ASSOCIATION, INC.

MINUTES OF THE BOARD MEETING SATURDAY, May 13, 2006 VFW Club., St. Cloud

Meeting called to roder by president Richter at 1 p.m.

Roll call showed all directors present.

Motion Brennan, seconded Barry, carried, to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as mailed.

In attendance, Jim Johnson, Dallas Jelmberg, William Kvettler, Doug Jerde

Jim Johnson came before the board with questions on a player's eligibility. Donny Huemoeller lives in Hastings, in 2005 he played for Cottage Grove, a Class A team. He did not get a release from Hastings and he stated in his letter that the Cottage Grove manager told him that he did not have to sign a contract to play for them. Johnson stated that Huemoeller would like to play for Miesville, but Miesville will not sign him without showing a release. After some discussion – motion Roufs, seconded Forsman, carried that to make Huemoeller eligible to play for Miesville he must first get a release from Hastings, next he must sit out three league games, which also will not count toward eligibility, and he must be at the games in which he sits out, dressed in full uniform. These sanctions will be monitored by Johnson, and relayed back to the board.

Action on Cottage Grove was next discussed. A motion by Roufs, seconded Rademacher, carried, that because of their lack of judgement for not complying with the rule on releases and contracts, they will be assesed a fine of $200 and put on one-year probation. If there is a second offense, they would forfeit all post season play. The board request that Cottage Grove appear before the board at the next MBA meeting June 17, 2006 at Ultimate Sports, Waite Park, MN (1 p.m.). At this time they will be given their chance to defend all sanctions handed down to them by the board.

Doug Jerde of St. Boni came before the board to discuss the eligibility of twin brothers Marc and Mitch Jones, they attend Crown College in St. Boni and they would like to play for them. The Jones brothers home address is out of state and use Crown College as their second address, however Crow College closes in the summer months, making them move to a new address, which will be Excelsior. After much discussion, motion Barry, seconded Brennan, to make Marc and Mitch Jones eligible to play for St. Boni. Voting against the motion Zellmann, Wegscheid, Forsman. Motion passed (6-3).

Dallas Jelmberg, president of the Anoka County League, came before the board with concerns on their league having a chance to play in post-season play with the other Class A leagues. He said a meeting was to be set up, but nothing ever became of it. The board said there was nothing they could do at this time, but suggested they write a letter to all other Class A leagues, out-linning what you will do to help with the tournament, and what you would be willing to accept if invited to their tournament.
