Minutes of the Board Meeting
Saturday-Sunday, July 10-11, 2004
Belle Plaine, MN
Meeting called to order by President Odman at 11:30 a.m.
Roll call showed all directors present.
Motion Brennan, seconded Wegscheid, carried, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as mailed.
President Odman appointed Brent Meyer, of Belle Plaine, to the audit committee, along with the State Board Directors Richter, Fiemeyer, and Fischer.
The board met with tournament chairman Dave Hartmann, Gerald Meyer, and Brent Meyer from Belle Plaine, and John Breunig, John Breimhorst, and Ron Beckman from Jordan. Items about the tournament were discussed. The board later inspected both parks and, except for some fine tuning, the parks were in great shape.
Admission to the State Tournament was set, adults $7.00, students $3.00. This is for one game or for all day.
Tournament passes will be available. (Adults) three weekends $50.00, two weekends $40.00. (Students) three weekends $20.00. You can purchase these passes at the state trailer.
Motion Wegscheid, seconded Fischer, carried, to approve the pro player questionnaire of Luther Kangas to play for Wolf Lake.
Motion Wegscheid, seconded Fischer, carried, to approve the pro player questionnaire of Anthony LePage to play for Dundas.
Motion Roufs, seconded Wegscheid, carried to approve Aaron Jenkins to play for the Waterloo Bucks, Northwoods League, return to St. Louis Park for post-season play, only if he meets his four game eligibility.
Matt Middendorf returned to Elrosa for games on July 2,3,4,5, a motion by Fiemeyer, seconded Richter, carried to approve Middendorf to return to the Lenoir Oilers for two weeks then back to Elrosa for Post-Season play, only if he meets his four game eligibility.
John Schaffer has reported back to the MBA that he is back from his USA tour, and will again play for LeSueur.
Motion Forsman, seconded Fischer, carried to approve Asa Patterson to play in a college wood bat league in Moose Jaw, Saskatcsewan, return to Mora for Post-Season play only if he meets his four game eligibility.
Motion Fiemeyer, seconded Forsman, carried to approve Brian Beuning to play for the Beatrice Bruins of the M.I.N.K. League, return to Sauk Centre for post-season play only if he meets his four game eligibility.
Motion Wegscheid, seconded Brennan, carried to approve Matt Borman to play for the Madison Mallards, Northwoods League, return to Hopkins Hort Hurricanes for post-season play only if he meets his four game eligibility.
Motion Richter, seconded Fiemeyer, carried, to make Ryan Holthaus eligible to play for the Cold Spring Springers.
Motion Wegscheid, seconded Fischer, carried to approve sanctions for Victoria 6/19-20/04, Bemidji 6/25-27/04.
Motion Fiemeyer, seconded Brennan, carried to approve Hayfield/Austin to play for Eau Claire, WI.
Motion Wegscheid, seconded Fischer, carried to approve Austin Grey Hounds to play for Eau Claire, WI., and they are also playing in Indiana.
Shakopee Coyotes file appeal on a player eligibility rule handed down to them by the D.R.S. League on June 29, 04. At the final roster meeting, it was discovered that the Shakopee Coyotes was playing a player Jeremy Latour, without a contract. Latour played with the Coyotes for two years, being released on 6/30/03. To be eligible, Latour had to re-sign a new contract. The D.R.S. sanctions were, the Coyotes would forfeit all games player participated in, player ineligible for remainder of 2004 season, the Coyotes would be barred from post-season play. After hearing both sides, motion Wegscheid, seconded Roufs, carried to up-hold the league’s decision with one addition, no player from the Shakopee Coyotes roster will be eligible to be drafted. The vote was 8-0, Zellman was not present.
Tony Smith of the Cleveland Condors came before the board requesting their team be reclassified to class “C,” the board asked him to come back at the annual meeting in October.

Motion Forsman, seconded Fischer, carried to approve tournament schedule.
A list of umpires was presented, it was gone over, selections made and approved.
Region-section commissioners: make sure teams turn in their rosters before they play their first game. They must be signed by league secretary and team manager, then sent to state secretary immediately. Remember, rosters must be typed or printed, and filled out completely. Commissioners must see that this is done.
Next meeting of the MBA will be Thursday, August 19, 2004 at the Americinn in Belle Plaine at 1:00 p.m.
Being no further business, meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
