Meeting called to order by President Odman at 1:00 P.M. Roll call showed Wegscheid absent.
Motion Brennan, seconded Forsman, carried to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as mailed to directors.
First order of business was (Wood Bats).
Zellmann reported that he received a few letters and numerous phone calls on the mandatory use of wood bats starting in 2002. With this concern, Zellmann made a motion that the board reconsider the action they took at the October meeting and push the starting date to the 2003 season, giving teams a year to get ready for this change. Fischer seconded the motion. A vote was taken with Zellmann, Fischer, Richter, Brennan for the motion. Voting against: Odman, Roufs, Fiemeyer, Forsman. Motion lost. All MBA teams will use wood or composite bats starting the 2002 season The use of aluminum bats will be out.
Notice league secretaries. Louisville Bat will be mailing out a packet for you to review and get information to teams in your league. You should receive this packet the end of November.
Notice to all interested parties. There will be a Wood Bat Day December 15 and 16th from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Courtyard Marriott, Bloomington, MN on the 494 strip. It is next to the Mall of America. It would be nice to see you all there. If you can not make it and need information, call Dan Phelps at 763-754-3906. Dan is a Rawlings representative.
The board acted on a few things that came up at the Annual Meeting.
Letter from the Eastern Minny Metro League was read and action was tabled until more information is received.
Rocky Nelson was present. He explained there would be a banquet on April 27, 2002 in which he would name the Team of the Century.
There will also be games at the Dome April 25- 27. Teams will be Minnesota's High Schools vs USA's Best. This program is put on by the Minnesota Baseball Foundation.
MBA Handbook was gone threw, motion by Roufs, seconded Fiemeyer, carried to approve all changes made.
Motion Fischer, seconded Roufs carried to approve the Calendar of Events for 2002.
President Odman assigned board directors their Committee Assignments for the 2002 season.
In attendance was: Bill Nelson, Dave Hinkemeyer, Rocky Nelson, Kevin Kuklis, Dan Phelps, Keckeisen, Shawn Vellek.
Next meeting of the MBA will be January 5, 2002 at the Holiday Inn, St. Cloud at 12:00 P.M.
